Revealing The most popular Medical Wellness and Longevity Treatments in the UK
Given the current situation in the UK with the public health system, it stands to reason that many consumers are being proactive in getting the treatment they need via the private market. But what treatment are people seeking, what is on offer to them in the UK?
Our latest research report “Beyond Injectables: How the Aesthetics market is embracing wellness and longevity” highlights that around 1 in 3 practices (34%) of all Aesthetics providers in the UK are offering treatments within the Medical Wellness and Longevity market.
How we collected the data
To understand these numbers, we used our Rare: Monitor system. Rare: Monitor actively observes the services, treatments, and activities of all private health beauty and wellness providers in the UK. The system was actively looking for any mention of the following treatments on our database of 86,000 providers in the UK:
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)
Nutritional Counselling
Weight Management Programmes
IV Vitamin Therapy
Stress Management and Relaxation Techniques
Functional Medicine Assessments
Detoxification Programmes
Fitness and Exercise Prescription
Mind-Body Therapies
Genetic Testing and Analysis
Sleep Management Programmes
Allergy Testing and Immunotherapy
Smoking Cessation Programmes
Medical longevity
Regenerative Medicine
What are the most common treatments
The most common Medical Wellness and Longevity treatment offered by Aesthetics clinics that are active in this part of the market is Functional Medicine Assessments, and the data indicates that providers offer a range of solutions, with no other clear dominating proposition.
According to The Institute of Functional Medicine, “Functional medicine is a systems biology–based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease.” It is an approach that considers a holistic patient centric approach to care. It would seem therefore, that this is a sensible entry point on a patient pathway to support and treatment, hence why it is the treatment with the highest presence amongst UK Aesthetics clinics.
It is notable that all other treatments have a presence that is no higher than 35%. It will be interesting to monitor this with time to see whether key treatment areas such as weight management programmes dominate the landscape of service provision.
